CUYAHOGA FALLS CITY COUNCIL • WARD 2
HELLO! MY NAME IS
SUSAN SPINNER
I was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. I met my husband, J.D., at the University of Cincinnati where I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Health Administration. We married in 1994 and bought our home in Cuyahoga Falls in 1997. We have raised our four kids here. Our oldest, Jake, is a graphic designer and works for a company in Columbus. Noah is finishing up with his law degree at the University of Akron, and we have twin girls, Margie and Katy, who are working toward art and music education degrees at UA.
I have worked for the same career colleges for over 26 years, 21 of which have been at the Fortis College Cuyahoga Falls Campus. We raised our family in the St. Joseph Parish where our boys were altar servers, the girls and J.D. sang in the St. Cecilia Choir, and JD and I served many years on the Pre Cana team. We were very involved in the Cuyahoga Falls Marching Tiger Band family for eight years, serving as head chaperones for the last four while I also sat on the Instrumental Music Patrons Board as well.
Scouting has been a huge part of our family's lives also. J.D. has filled the roles of Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, and BSA Commissioner. He and the boys are all Eagle Scouts. I was a parent volunteer for the Girl Scouts for many years. Margie and Katy are Girl Scout Gold Award recipients, and all four of our kids have joined their father achieving the rank of BSA Eagle Scout. We all have worked hard for the American Cancer Society's Cuyahoga Falls Relay for Life events while I have served as Team Captain and on the Leadership Team for the last 8 years. Our family participates every year in raising funds and awareness for the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Alzheimer's Association. As a member of The Fret Daddies and the acoustic duo, JD & Ken, JD has brought fun and music to our community for over 26 years.
Our family wouldn't be complete without the love and companionship of our two pets. Both our cat, Ivory, and dog, Leia, are rescues. During Covid, Leia and Ivory were JD's office mates while he worked from home.
All of these activities brought us closer together as a family and to our community. We understand fully how our lives are enriched by participating and being involved. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as the Cuyahoga Falls Ward 2 City Council Representative. My aim has been to be accessible and responsive to the needs of the Ward 2 residents while also supporting legislation that has brought growth and energy flowing into our city.
